Mask For Coronavirus

There is good news for us all. The Corona pandemic has yet to be resolved and is still haunting some people. Researchers and scientists themselves are still trying to find a drug to end the spread of the virus. But reportedly a university in Japan along with a local textile company has managed to find a unique mask that can not only prevent transmission of the virus but also kill COVID-19.

Copper Fiber

As quoted by Elite Readers, this unique discovery has been widely reported and has become a major topic in the current pandemic, given its potential is high enough to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus. Gunma University in Gumma, Japan makes face masks using copper fibers that can provide extra protection from viruses. In just 4 hours, the material used for the mask could deactivate the Coronavirus.

The news about this unique mask was published through the Japanese government's Facebook social media account on May 31, 2020. In that post, the Japanese government also shared some photos of the unique mask by Gumma University.

Mask Anti-Microbial

According to research from the NIH (National Institutes of Health), #NovelCoronavirus can last up to 2 to 3 days on a plastic surface but only 4 hours on a copper surface. By increasing the anti-microbial properties of copper which are famous for photocatalysts, Gunma Univ. "The GUDi spin-off & copper yarn maker Meisei Industry are jointly developing copper fiber sheets that can be used for masks and other everyday items," the statement in the Facebook upload said.

Professor Hideyuki Itabashi said that the unique mask could combat the spread of the virus and would be marketed as soon as possible. Unfortunately, there is no clarity exactly when the mask will be ready to be marketed.
